What a day.......

Sat Aug 8, 2009, 1:58 PM
I feel so blessed to live in a city that has a world class Art Museum.

I will admit it has probably been close to a year since I have taken the time to get over there and look around. I always wonder why after a visit that it takes so long in between visits. There is no cost to get in, a minimal charge to pay for parking. Sure, it involves driving out of the comfort of the suburbs, through the hood and into the near downtown to get there, but hey, not a biggie.

I guess my weekends are always so full and if I take a day off from work it is usually on a Monday and wouldn't you know it, that is the one day the museum is closed.

Still, it was a fun trip and we went through the Glass Pavilion too. That has some real interesting glass sculptures in it and we watched the glass blowing demo for a while too. Nothing new there though. Living in this area I have see more glass blowing demos than I could possibly count.

In the Main Building they had an exhibit of local area artists. Real impressive stuff. I hate that they do not allow photography in there. I absolutely loved this sculpture of reclaimed items called 'Darkness and Wind'. It was the front half of horses looking like they were coming right out of the wall and they were both made out of plastic items. The black one had spatulas, hangers, strainers, you name it made of plastic, and the white one was the same. From a distance it looked so real. It was mesmerizing. It was not until you3 got closer and saw how it was made that you start going wow.

If I had the room and a spare 10K, that would have been mine, lol.

No thank you, your fractals are amazing.

How hard is Ultra Fractal to learn?
:iconshadoweddancer:
:)
I haven't tried all of the fractal programs, but Ultra Fractal seems to be one of the most complex. However, it's very rewarding, the possibilities are endless and I love the images it produces. It does cost money, but you can try it out for free. It comes with tutorials, and are plenty of online as well. :iconvelvet--glove: has written some good ones. I'd highly recommend giving it a try. :)

I just might have to try that when I get a chance. Lately all the images I have made have been for the website. No time to just be artistic, if you know what I mean, but I love fractals and most of the best stuff out there was made with Ultra. Thanks.
:iconshadoweddancer:
You are most welcome. :)
